It not sure if the “Gyro-Stabilizer” was snake oil or not, but appears that this product was patented. I was able to find a quote from the February, 1953 issue of The Rotarian (through Google Books):
“A new device is said to be worth millions of dollars to motorists in peace of mind in that it diminishes skids and provides safety insurance by reducing the skid before it happens. This automatic stabilizer comes to his rescue when a motorist negotiates sharp turns, curves, and the like”
