Good day, Years ago I tried to search out and find information on a unique aluminum car body that was given to my father almost 30 yrs ago. Until today, I never found anything out about that car… UNTIL TODAY! Apparently we have a 51-53 or so Siata 300BC. I would like some help from you verifying exactly what the car is, if you don’t mind. I’m not sure where to start, but I will get some pictures of the car as soon as possible. Where would I find a chassis or VIN # on the car?
Primarily I have a shell, I was about to make a chassis from the independent suspension 94-97 Mazda Miata; However, it may now make more sense to restore the car.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hello. You have probably had a lot of people ask you this, but, if you haven’t done anything with the car, would you be willing to sell?

The car is undergoing a preservation/restoration and is not for sale. Any further inquiries can be sent directly to my e-mail at “mark (AT) markbean (DOT) com”.

    To Errol:

If you do not have the truss structure (above the passenger’s feet ahead of the dash and part of the firewall) it will be hard to pinpoint the exact chassis number. It was stamped both into the aluminum ID plate as well as the steel adjacent.

If the rear body comes up to directly behind the seats it is one of the first 40 cars and bodied by Bertone. If there is a space behind and a shelf (think Mk II Sprite vs Bugeye) it is one ofe the later Motto bodied cars and telaio # ST441 to ST450.

All but two were open cars, a fastback coupe in the ST42x range and a notchback coupe ST434 were the two closed cars.

All parts to recreate the chassis can be formed on a sheet metal brake and acetylene welded and the suspension components from a Fiat 500C Topolino. Depending on the Chassis # the brakes were sourced from either Fiat 500 or 1100 and the engine either Crosley or Fiat 1100. Go for it!!
